NCAIA hosts Independence day celebrations in Maryland
Three community members—Nagendra Madhavaram, Zafar Iqbal, and Mayur Modi were honored with awards during the event.

The National Council of Asian Indian Associations, Inc. (NCAIA) celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day, at the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center in Potomac, Maryland earlier this month.
Several prominent community organizations, such as Sikhs of America Inc., Global Haryana, The Aligarh Alumni Association-Metro Washington, and the American Diversity Group Inc., took part in the event, highlighting the spirit of collaboration and showcasing the unity within the Indian American community, along with NCAIA's dedication to inclusivity.
Marc Elrich, Montgomery County Executive, as the chief guest, alongside distinguished officials from the Maryland State government, representatives from the Indian Embassy, including Jigar Rawal and Rajeev Ahuja, graced the event.
Three community members—Nagendra Madhavaram, Zafar Iqbal, and Mayur Modi were honored with awards for their dedicated service, highlighting their role in shaping and supporting the Indian American community during the event.

Founded in 2005, NCAIA serves the Asian Indian community in the Washington Metropolitan area. Its mission is to promote cultural, social, and educational initiatives that foster understanding, unity, and the preservation of Indian heritage, while helping the community integrate into American society. Over the years, the organization has hosted various cultural festivals, educational workshops, and community outreach programs, each aimed at highlighting Indian traditions and addressing key community concerns, such as immigration, healthcare, and professional development.
