New York wins second US National Gatka Championship, Kansas runner-up

The New York Gatka Association won the overall trophy at the second US National Gatka Championship, held at The Sikh Center of New York Inc., on Oct. 6. The event was organized by the Gatka Federation USA, which aims to manage, promote, and standardize the Sikh martial art of Gatka in the US under the guidance of the World Gatka Federation.
Kansas Gatka Association secured second place, with Texas taking third. The inaugural event saw over 125 Singh and Kaur participants from various US Gatka Associations and Akharas. It was jointly organized by the Gatka Federation USA and the host, the New York Gatka Association.
The event attendees at the opening and prize distribution ceremonies included Kalvinder Singh Fresno, president of Gatka Federation USA; Deep Singh, general secretary of the World Gatka Federation; Himmat Singh, coordinator of the World Sikh Parliament; and Sarabjit Singh Sahni from the Guru Gobind Singh Sikh Study Circle.
Gatka Federation USA officials congratulated the winners of the second US National Gatka Championship and thanked the volunteers for their efforts in New York. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting the Sikh martial art of Gatka and pledged ongoing support for all State Gatka Associations, Akharas, academies, and players.
The final results of the second US National Gatka Championship are as follows:
In the Single Soti Individual Under-21 men's event, Karansher Singh from the PA Gatka Association took first place, while Mandeep Singh and Sandeep Singh from Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara in New York secured second and third places, respectively. In the girls' category, Gurbani Singh from the NJ Gatka Association finished first, and Gurvinder Kaur from the Kansas Gatka Association came in second.
In the Single Soti Under-17 Girls event, Kulrajpreet Kaur from the Kansas Gatka Association won first place, while Ekampreet Singh from the Connecticut Gatka Association took second. Bhagbir Singh from New York and Vanshdeep Singh from Akal Gatka Gurmat Group, also from New York, secured the first and second positions, followed by Armanjot Singh from Kansas in third.
Gurkeerat Kaur from Kansas finished first, followed by Harnidh Kaur and Seerat Kaur, both from New York, in second and third place in the Under-14 Girls Demonstration event. While in the boys' category, Teghveer Singh from Texas took first place, with Dilraj Singh and Gurnoor Singh from New York finishing in second and third, respectively.
Harpreet Singh from Akal Gatka Gurmat Group, NY was selected as the best player in the men’s category, and Arshdeep Kaur from Guru Gobind Singh Academy NY in the women’s category.
The Texas Gatka Association received the Fair Play Team Award, while Jashandeep Singh from the Kansas Gatka Association was honored with the Fair Play Award for individuals. In the men's category, Jagjeet Singh from Elmira, NY, earned the Emerging Player Award, and Arshdeep Kaur from Guru Gobind Singh Academy in Gobind Sarvar, NY, received the same award in the women's category.
