Edelman, a New York based global public relations firm, has announced the appointment of former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley as vice chair of its public affairs consultancy, Edelman Global Advisory (EGA).
Haley, who served as South Carolina's first female governor from 2011 to 2017, brings extensive experience in leadership, international relations, and economic development to the role. During her tenure as governor, she was credited with attracting numerous foreign companies to South Carolina, fostering economic growth and job creation.
The Indian American later served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018, where she played a critical role in addressing global issues, from human rights to security threats, solidifying her reputation on the world stage.
In her new role at Edelman, Haley will be advising clients on how to navigate the increasingly complex political and business landscapes, a release noted.
“Brands need to anticipate what’s coming next, whether managing a crisis or celebrating success,” said Haley. “I’m excited to join the team at Edelman to help their clients navigate the challenges ahead.”
Richard Edelman, CEO of Edelman, emphasized Haley's global perspective and leadership skills. “In her time as Governor, Haley had great success in attracting foreign companies to South Carolina, and as Ambassador to the UN, helped lead important work on global issues,” he noted, adding that her expertise would be a valuable asset to Edelman's clients worldwide.
Alongside Haley, former U.S. Senator and Ambassador to China Max Baucus will join as senior advisor, further strengthening Edelman’s capabilities in public affairs.
