A car rally was organized by the Indian community in Hicksville, Long Island, to celebrate the Ram Mandir consecration. Hicksville is a hamlet situated within the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County in Long Island, New York, boasting a major Indian population.
The rally commenced from Patel Brothers in Hicksville, with the participation of 150 cars and a midway stop at a Gurudwara. A float equipped with a DJ system playing devotional bhajan songs dedicated to Lord Rama was part of the procession.
A LED truck adorned with three screens displayed videos depicting episodes from the Ramayana and images of the Rama Mandir. Participants donned saffron scarves adorned with depictions of Hanuman and Rama.
In addition to the array of cars, floats, and the LED truck, the procession included children dressed as characters from the Ramayana, portraying roles such as Rama, Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman.
The rally organizers included prominent members of the Indian community in Hicksville, including Dr. Raj Bhayani, Mukesh Modi, Dr. Dipak Nandi, Mohan Wanchoo, Naveen Shah, Chintu Patel, Gary Sikka, and Dr. Neeta Jain.
“The Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddha communities have all united to celebrate this historic moment,” Raj Bhayani said.
The committee that managed the procession comprised Sunil Hali, Gobind Bhatija, Pradeep Tandon, Dr. Urmilesh Arya, Vimal Goyal, and Eric Kumar, among others.
Each car in the procession was embellished with saffron-colored flags. The procession culminated at the picturesque AsaMai temple in Hicksville.
