The Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) organized a celebration of Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sweeping state election victory with the Indian Diaspora at the community center in Glenview in Chicago.
The party emerged victorious in three of the four states namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh earlier this month.
The Chicago event was organized under the leadership of OFBJP president Dr. Adapa Prasad, core volunteers Rakesh Malhotra, Rohit Joshi, Nirmala Reddy. It was virtually attended by Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP national general secretary.
Addressing the gathering, Vijayvargiya thanked the diaspora for their strong support and congratulated the OFBJP members for their hard work, social media support, and call campaign. He said that the BJP’s victory in these states was a reflection of the people's trust in Modi’s vision for a New India.
OFBJP celebrates BJP’s state election victory in Chicago / Photography by JKThe event also featured speeches by well-known philanthropist Dr Bharat Barai, Community leaders, Rakesh Malhotra, Acharya Rohit Joshi, Nirmala Reddy, Srinivas Bodige, Anil Singh, Hemant Patel, Nirav Patel and Vandana Jhingan.
According to a release, the speakers highlighted the achievements of the Modi government and expressed their confidence in its prospects. They also urged the Indian American community to continue their support for the party and its policies.
Nirmala Reddy, volunteer co-coordinator of Chicago chapter of OFBJP mentioned that the organization has been at the forefront of spreading awareness about the BJP’s vision and achievements among the Indian community in the US by organizing various events and campaigns to engage with the community and garner support.
Over 300 people attended the celebration of the BJP’s victory in the assembly elections. According to Rakesh Malhotra president of Global Indian Diaspora, Chicago the large turnout is a “testament to the strong bond between the Indian American Diaspora and their homeland.”
