The Overseas Friends of the BJP (OFBJP) Chicago chapter hosted a celebratory event marking the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral victory in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections attended by several pro-BJP organizations and volunteers, with Dr. Najma Heptulla serving as the chief guest.

Dr. Heptulla, a veteran Indian parliamentarian and advocate for social justice and women’s rights, has had a distinguished career spanning decades. She served as the Deputy Speaker of the Rajya Sabha for over 35 years and was the Vice President of the BJP. She also held the position of Minister of Minority Affairs (2014–2016) in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet. Additionally, she has served as the Governor of Manipur (2016–2021) and was previously associated with the Indian National Congress before joining the BJP.

Her recently published book, In Pursuit of Democracy: Beyond Party Lines, was launched at the event. "India cannot have any other kind of government with so much diversity. The only way to survive for us is to follow democracy, with different languages, cultures, religions—even food and clothes," she said.

Highlighting the role of women in preserving Indian traditions, she added, "It is our women who have preserved Indian culture even after living in America, while men have switched to pants."

Nirmala Reddy, OFBJP’s national social media coordinator, hailed the BJP’s win as a triumph for both governance and cultural values.

"This victory is dedicated to the people of Delhi for giving an opportunity to the visionary, nationalist, and great leaders of the BJP," she said.

She further described the election results as a significant ideological and developmental milestone, stating, "This is not just a win; this is a win for Sanatan Dharma and also the development of Bharat."

Rakesh Malhotra, OFBJP’s Chicago coordinator, highlighted the significance of the election results for Indian expatriates.

"The Delhi election was important and historic. Delhi has been under misrule for the last 10 years, and since it is the capital, it was so important for us as NRIs to take pride in it. We hope that with this victory, Delhi will be on the path of development," he said.
