The Indian men's shooting team continued to pile up medals after Manu Bhaker's heroics. Taking third place in the men's 50 m Air Rifle 3 positions event on Aug.1 Kusale performed admirably and earned India's third shooting bronze medal.

The shooter from Maharashtra's Kolhapur, was 0.5 points behind second-placed Kalish Serhiy (Ukraine)  before the shoot for the gold started. Swapnil had shot 4561.4 while Kalish had 451.9. With a final score of 463.6, Liu Yukun of China won first place.

After becoming the first Indian shooter to qualify for the men's 50-meter rifle event in the third position the day before, Kusale, 28, made history by becoming the only medal winner in this category. However, what makes this win even sweeter is the fact that he did so at his maiden Olympic appearance.

Indian eyes will remain focused on the shooting range as Manu Bhaker takes to her favourite 25 m Air Pistol for women. So far India has won all its three bronze medals in shooting. In the wake of their Olympic shooting blank in Tokyo 2020, the nation's faith in its shooters has been reaffirmed.
