One in nine Asian Americans and one in six Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. live in poverty (11 percent and 17 percent respectively), according to new data by Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI).
The data, which highlights economic hardship among these communities, also noted that more than 1.7 million Asian Americans and over 72,000 Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs) live below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
