Preparations for the highly anticipated Modi&US event, set to host India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are well underway, with volunteers and organizers working to ensure a successful gathering at Nassau Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale, NY, on Sep.22.

“The excitement is palpable and the sheer volume of people working together to make this event a success is really impressive,” said Ganesh Ramakrishnan, a key organizer mobilizing volunteers for the mega-event.

The event’s theme, “Progress Together,” underscores the celebration of the India-US relationship and the Indian ethos of viewing the world as one family. The event highlights diversity as a strength and promotes the well-being of all people and the planet, with a focus on building a better world together.

“I am deeply honored to be part of this inspiring celebration that shines a light on the vibrant tapestry of Indian culture and the invaluable contributions of Indian Americans,” said Harry Singh, reception committee co-chair.

“It’s not just an opportunity to share our rich heritage with the world, but also to convene our broad and diverse community, inspire friendship between our home and our country of origin, and foster a brighter future for all,” he added.

Interest in the event has surged, drawing attention from across the country and around the world. Registration was a multi-phase process, beginning with Indian American community organizations nationwide joining as welcome partners.

These partners facilitated pre-registration, offering free passes to their members, followed by a general registration process. Special invites were extended to prominent members and supporters of the Indian American diaspora.

With over 25,000 registrants for the 13,000 available seats, the event sold out quickly. More than 500 community organizations from over 40 states signed on as welcome partners within 48 hours of registration opening.

The event will feature two stages, with Prime Minister Modi’s keynote address as the centerpiece. The main stage will host Echoes of India: A Journey of Art and Tradition, a cultural showcase featuring nearly 400 artists, including Grammy nominee Chandrika Tandon, STAR Voice of India winner Aishwarya Majumdar, social media sensation Ricky Pond (Instagram’s Dancing Dad), and popular singer Rex D'Souza.

The outer stage will feature community-led performances by over 100 performers, entertaining attendees as they arrive at the coliseum.

“From classical to folk, fusion to funky, the cultural program is sure to delight everyone,” said Sai Sagar Patnaik, director of the cultural show. “Just like our welcome partners and attendees, the program celebrates India’s diversity with dances and music from the four corners of India and everything in between.”

Preparations are being handled by a team of 350 volunteers from 14 states, working across various organizational areas. Communication efforts have been ramped up to keep every section of the community informed, and support from the broader Indian American community continues to pour in, with many organizations contributing in various ways.

Over 150 media professionals from more than 85 outlets, including Reuters, Deutsche Welle, Nikkei Asia, India Today, TimesNow, and NDTV, will be in attendance to cover the event.
