Gurpatwant Singh Pannun called upon Muslims living in India to carve out “Urduistan” from India ahead of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22, 2024.

In addition to making the inflammatory suggestion, the general counsel of Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SJF) also urged for a shutdown of flights from Amritsar to Ayodhya with an intent to disrupt travel plans of devotees planning to travel to the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to attend the ceremony. Ayodhya's Maharishi Valmiki International Airport has received over 40 landing requests from chartered flights carrying devotees.

“From Amritsar to Ayodhya, shut down airports. Now is the time, Muslims you carve out a country Urduistan from India,” Pannun said in a video that emerged on the internet on January 8. Pannun advised every Muslim to protest against the ceremony which is going to have a “global consequence.” The SJF supremo further described the consecration ceremony as Modi's Operation Blue Star against Muslims, according to a report.

Pannun has made similar agitated claims and suggestions in the past, including the one where he called for picketing outbound Air India flights from Toronto and Vancouver. He also asked Sikhs and those traveling to and fro India and Canada to choose other airline carriers and ban Air India. Pannun asked Muslims to protest against the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir scheduled for January 22.

He also called for targeting the Bombay Stock Exchange to cause “economic destruction” of India, on March 12, 2024, which coincides with the 31st anniversary of the terror attacks in Mumbai from 1993 where the BSE building was one of the targets.
