The Penn State College of Engineering has recognized two Indian-American alumni with the 2025 Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award for professional contributions in their field.
Divakar Ramakrishnan and Vithal Shirodkar are among 21 alumni honored during an event on April 24.

Ramakrishnan, who earned his doctorate in chemical engineering in 1997, currently serves as the executive vice president, chief technology officer, and head of research and development at Convatec. He has led eight major product launches since 2020 and has been instrumental in advancing care in chronic health conditions. His career spans over 25 years, including key roles at Eli Lilly and Moderna.
Shirodkar, earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State in 1997 and 2000, respectively. Currently vice president and general manager at Google, he leads the Google Distributed Cloud initiative, bringing advanced AI models to customer environments globally. His career includes stints at Oracle and Amazon Web Services.
He has also contributed significantly to Penn State, serving on the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Industrial and Professional Advisory Council for seven years.
"The recipients of our Early Career and Outstanding Engineering Alumni Awards embody what makes the Penn State alumni network so powerful: innovation that solves real-world problems, leadership that inspires others and a commitment to excellence and to the University that spans entire careers,” said Tonya L. Peeples, Harold and Inge Marcus dean of Engineering.
Established in 1966, the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed by the College of Engineering and recognizes graduates who have reached exceptional levels of professional achievement.
