Today marks the 77th Independence Day of India. The theme for the celebrations this year is "Nation First, Always First" to encourage the citizens to put the nation first, regardless of their individual differences. The theme also reflects the government's commitment to building a stronger and more united India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the national day at the Red Fort by engaging with the participants of the celebrations and the attendees who had gathered to witness the event.

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal pledged towards making India a developed country. He hoisted the national flag to mark the 77th Independence day along with CRPF Jawans and office staff. Additionally, the Delhi administration has organized colorful celebrations at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, on the occasion inaugurated the Free Annapurna Food Packet Scheme to give concrete shape to the concept of 'No one sleeps hungry” campaign in the state. He also paid tribute to martyrs of the country at Amar Jyoti Memorial Park.
Chief Minister Stalin, hoisted the national flag at the Chief Secretariat Fort Kothalam, Chennai and delivered a special speech on Independence Day. Beramana Saraswathi E.A., Deputy Director (E-Governance), presented the Chief Minister's Good Governance Award to the Tamil Nadu E-Governance Agency, which has developed a mobile app for monitoring the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme at the event.
Chief Minister Sidda Ramaiah hoisted the flag at the Field Marshal Manik Shah Parade Ground in Bangalore and wished the people of the country. The state celebrated the day with several schemes such as Yuvanidhi scheme, which gives allowances to unemployed graduates, Grilahakshmi Yojana, which provides wages for women taking care of families.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao unfurled the National Flag at Golconda Fort and addressed the people of the state.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute at the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose in Kolkata on August 15 and took part in the Independence Day celebrations.
