In the wake of a recent plane crash in Afghanistan, the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that the unfortunate incident involved neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft.

The aircraft was identified as a Moroccan-registered small aircraft. The ministry expressed condolences over the incident and assured it is closely monitoring the situation.

The aircraft involved in the incident was a 45-year-old Dassault Falcon 10 with serial number 128, according to Flightradar24, a Swedish internet-based service specializing in real-time aircraft flight tracking.

The tracking of the aircraft was limited due to its ModeS-transponder with a Russian registration, which restricted the monitoring.

“We are following media reports of an aircraft accident in a mountainous area in Afghanistan. The aircraft involved is a 45-year-old Dassault Falcon 10 with serial number 128. It was using a Moroccan transponder code (020087 / CN-TKN) but the call sign 09011 indicates a Russian registration (RA-09011),” Flightradar24 posted on X.

Afghanistan issues an update

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in a statement on X revealed details about the rescue operations.

The RA-09011 flight, reportedly belonging to Russia, disappeared near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border. The Afghan Air Force rescue teams located the crash site in the Aruz Koh area of Kuf Ab district in Badakhshan province.

“The Plane reported missing in Badakhshan province has been located in Aruz Koh area of Kuf Ab district. The pilot has been discovered by the IEA search group according to reports. The pilot among 4 other individuals has survived the incident,” Mujahid wrote on X.

He further reassured that rescue operations were underway and that they would provide assistance to the injured.
