Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Philadelphia on a three-day visit to U.S on Sept. 21. He will be attending the Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware later during the day.
PM Modi was warmly welcomed by members of the Indian diaspora at Philadelphia International Airport upon his arrival. He greeted the diaspora outside the airport and engaged with the large crowd of diaspora at the Hotel duPont in Wilmington, Delaware. Members of the Indian community performed Garba, a traditional Gujarati dance, to welcome him.
President Joe Biden of the United States posted a welcome message welcoming the leaders of the Quad countries—India, Australia and Japan, calling them his 'friends." At the Quad Leaders summit there will be a strong focus on peace, progress and stability in the Indo-Pacific. A group of US lawmakers inlcuding Indian American Rep. Ami Bera announced the creation of Bipartisan House and Senate QUAD Caucus, ahead of the Summit.
On the sidelines of the Quad Summit, the Indian PM is also scheduled to engage in a bilateral meeting with US President Biden and his other counterparts. The summit will serve as a farewell for both Biden and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida.
