Later in the day, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since Trump secured a second term last month.
On Feb. 12 the Prime Minister met with Tulsi Gabbard, the newly appointed Director of National Intelligence. Sharing details of their meeting, Modi said, “Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary.”
Michael Waltz, a former U.S. Representative from Florida and a combat-decorated Green Beret, was appointed as National Security Advisor by President Trump in November 2024 and assumed office on Jan. 20. Known for his firm stance on national security issues, Waltz has been a vocal advocate for strengthening U.S. alliances and countering global security challenges.
