PM Modi to inaugurate Boeing Center in Bengaluru

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) campus at Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, on January 19. 

The 43-acre campus, Boeing’s largest investment outside the US, is built with an investment of ₹1,600 crore (US$192 million).

Boeing’s new campus will become a cornerstone for partnership with the vibrant startup, private and government ecosystems in India, a government release stated. It will help develop next-generation products and services for the global aerospace and defense industry.

Modi is also set to unveil the Boeing Sukanya Program which aims to support the entry of more girl children from across India into the growing aviation sector of the country. Under the programme, girls and women from across India will be provided with the opportunity to learn critical skills in the science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields and train for jobs in the aviation sector.

The program will create STEM Labs at 150 planned locations to help spark interest in STEM careers among young girls. It will also provide scholarships to women training to be pilots.

Earlier, Boeing announced a $100 million investment in infrastructure and programs to train pilots in India.
