Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released six special commemorative postage stamps dedicated to Ram temple ahead of its consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
Apart from the stamps, an album featuring similar stamps related to Lord Ram from various countries was also unveiled. The Prime Minister congratulated devotees in India and abroad, commemorating the event as a significant step in preserving and sharing the historical and cultural legacy of the revered deity.
During the unveiling, Modi highlighted the dual role of postage stamps. Along with sending letters and documents, postage stamps also act as a medium to pass on historical events to future generations, he asserted.
The commemorative stamps, adorned with artistic expressions of devotion to Lord Ram, aim to connect the past with the present and pass on the rich cultural heritage to the youth.
The artistic depictions on the stamps include the popular quatrain ‘मंगल भवन अमंगल हारी’ and symbols such as the sun, representing the ‘Suryavanshi’ lineage of Ram, the river ‘Saryu,’ and the internal architecture of the temple.

These elements convey messages of a new light in the country, Modi said. Underscoring the educational value of the stamps, the Prime Minister stated that they would assist the younger generation in learning about Lord Ram and his life.
Modi further praised the collaboration between saints and the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust with the postal department to create the commemorative stamps.
Highlighting the global resonance of Lord Ram’s story, he revealed that countries like the USA, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Fiji, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Thailand, Guyana, and Singapore have previously issued postal stamps showcasing significant life events of Lord Ram.
The newly-launched album contains comprehensive information about Lord Shri Ram and the stories of Mother Janaki. It provides insights into their lives and underscores Lord Ram’s enduring global significance even in modern times.
In this regard, the Prime Minister invoked Maharishi Valmiki’s timeless words, emphasizing that the story of Ramayana will endure as long as there are mountains and rivers on earth, reflecting the perpetual impact of Lord Ram’s personality on humanity.
