“Political War” gears up for release despite snub by Indian Censor Board
The film, produced under the banner of Indie Films World, was shot in Mumbai, Varanasi, Lucknow and the United States.

The Hindi film "Political War," produced by New York-based filmmaker Mukesh Modi is gearing up for a global release despite the Censor Board of Film Certification in India (CBFC) has refused to clear it for release in India.
Set for a Feb.23 release, the film set against the backdrop of the Indian elections was earlier named ‘2024 Election War' but was changed to 'Political War' after the CBFC raised an objection to the initial title. Even after the name change, the film failed to secure a censor sertificate from the board.
The Mumbai-born filmmaker based in the United States, ventured into filmmaking after being inspired by Bollywood. His first film “The Elevator” was sold to Amazon, and is doing well on the streaming platforms.

Political war poster / Image – Makesh ModiOn the Indian Censor Board’s reaction to his latest film, Modi said, “Of course I am hurt. But I believe in doing my good karma and leaving the rest to God. I have made tremendous sacrifices, both personal and financial, to make this film.”
According to him, the film’s global release is an opportunity to reach a broader audience, while also coming up with plans to revisit and resubmit the film for approval in India. “My opinion is that, the board should suggest what needs to be altered in a film. However, just rejecting a film doesn’t make sense. They need to look into this,” Modi asserted.
Through the film, Modi aims to spread the message of unity and resilience, cautioning against divisive politics fueled by religion and caste, a statement by the makers highlighted.
“Today, unfortunately we are surrounded by people who are taking advantage of religion and caste biases. I want people to open their eyes and see the impact of religion bias. You have to be one, you can’t let anyone divide you,” the filmmaker maintained.
The film, produced under the banner of Indie Films World, was shot in Mumbai, Varanasi, Lucknow and the United States. It stars Seema Biswas, Rituparna Sengupta, Milind Gunaji, Prashant Narayan, Abhay Bhargav, Shishir Sharma, Aman Verma, Jiten Mukhi, Prithvi Zutshi, Dev Sharma, and Arun Bakshi.
