Indian-American star Poorna Jagannathan has been cast as Zoe, a recurring character in HBO's upcoming drama series Lanterns, based on DC Comics’ Green Lantern.
Born to Indian diplomats, Jagannathan is fluent in Tamil, Hindi, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. In addition to her acting career, Jagannathan is known for her advocacy work. She co-created and starred in the award-winning play Nirbhaya, which shed light on sexual violence and was hailed as a landmark in women’s rights in India.
Jagannathan has earned accolades like being named one of the "Top 100 Most Impactful Asians in America" by Goldhouse in 2021 and 2022.
Jagannathan joins a stellar cast that includes Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad), and Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) as series regulars. Recurring cast members include Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood), who plays a modern cowboy, William Macon.
