Priyanka Deo, an Indian-American media professional and alumna of the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS), officially filed her candidacy for the Chatham School Board.
With an extensive background in communications, Deo aims to bring her experience and dedication to educational initiatives to the local school district. The move also marks her debut in politics.

Deo, currently the director of student media at UIS and a prominent figure in digital and strategic media, has committed to representing youth interests and enhancing education within her community.
Before joining UIS, she served in various high-profile media roles, including anchoring and editing for Associated Broadcasting in India and creating a digital show with The Times of India Group, a leading Indian media group. Recognized as a national political commentator, Deo was also involved with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's communications team during the 2019 national elections.
A UIS graduate with degrees from Harvard University, the University of Southern California, and the London School of Economics, Deo also captained the UIS women’s tennis team and earned accolades such as the Lincoln Medallion.
