In celebration of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to New York on September 22, 2024, Rajbhog Sweets, based in Jersey City, NJ, will distribute 14,000 free snack boxes at a community reception in Uniondale, New York.
The event is expected to draw a large crowd as the Indian-American community comes together to welcome Modi.
The snack boxes, which will feature a special "Modi Mix" and "Modi Magic," creative takes on traditional Gujarati snacks inspired by the Prime Minister. The boxes will also include popular delicacies like dry fruit kachori, kaju katli, and peda.
Arvind Patel, along with business partners Raju Patel and Manishaben Patel, has been overseeing the preparation of the boxes. The group previously in 2014 distributed 25,000 snack packages at the prime minister's Madison Square Garden event.
Reflecting on that occasion, Arvind shared, "We were proud to cater for Modi's meal with 100 U.S. lawmakers and governors. It was a memorable moment for us." Patel's connection to the prime minister dates back to their time together in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where Patel became a steadfast supporter of Modi.
Rajbhog Sweets has become a household name among Indian Americans in New Jersey, thanks in part to the state’s large Indian population. Arvind Patel opened the Jersey City franchise in 2001, expanding on a legacy that began over 25 years ago when Ajit and Lata Mody founded the original Rajbhog Sweets in Jackson Heights, NY. The brand’s mission is to provide authentic Indian sweets and snacks made with the highest-quality ingredients.
