Ranjeev Puri runs for re-election as Michigan State Rep

He was first elected as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives in 2020.

Ranjeev Puri, an Indian American Democrat, who has been serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives since 2020, is running for re-election. He represents the 24th district and has held the position of House Majority Whip since 2023.

“It’s official!! I am running for re-election to represent the 24th House district! Serving as your State Representative is the greatest honor. I’m so proud of the work we’ve done since you first elected me in 2020. Let’s run it back and keep this good thing going!” Puri said in a post on X. 
 



Puri contributed to Barack Obama's presidential campaign and maintains ties with the Michigan Indian American Democratic Caucus. During his candidacy for the Michigan House of Representatives seat representing the 21st district, he received an endorsement from the incumbent State Representative at the time, Kristy Pagan.

A son of Immigrants, Puri believes that he is the product of the American dream and has based his campaign on the ideals of inclusion, equity, and equality. Some of the issues he aims to address includes,supporting small businesses, supporting veterans, investing in education, and creating safe and welcoming communities, among others.

Puri has been actively involved in various community organizations such as South Asians of Michigan Organizing for Serious Actions (SAMOSA), Moms Demand Action, Arts and Partnership Board Canton, the Sikh Gurdwara of Canton, and New American Leaders.

Before venturing into politics, Puri worked as a business manager with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and other automakers. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and finance from Ohio State University, and obtained a master's degree from the University of Chicago in 2014.
