Recognising the religious and historical significance of Diwali, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has reintroduced a bipartisan Diwali Resolution in the House of Representatives stressing that more than three million Americans of Indian descent as well as hundreds of millions of people of all over the world including Hindus, Jains and Sikhs celebrate the festival which falls this year on November 12.
“Diwali is a festival for gratitude as well as a celebration of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil for millions of Sikhs, Jains, and Hindus celebrating across the world, and here in the United States,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “I’m proud to join my colleagues in reintroducing this bipartisan resolution to recognize the enormous religious, cultural, and historical significance of Diwali”, the Illinois lawmaker added.
