Congressman Shri Thanedar has reintroduced a bipartisan resolution, H.Res. 69, condemning Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu bigotry in the United States.
The resolution highlights the contributions of Hindu Americans and calls for greater awareness of discrimination faced by the community.
“Hate in any form threatens the fabric of our society,” Thanedar said. “By condemning Hinduphobia, this resolution sends a clear message: we will not tolerate bigotry, and we will continue to celebrate the diversity that strengthens our communities.”
The resolution acknowledges the rise in anti-Hindu violence across the country, citing incidents from New York to California. It affirms the United States as a nation that welcomes the diversity brought by Hindu Americans and recognizes the cultural, historical, and social contributions of Hinduism.
“With the continued bipartisan support of my colleagues, I hope to bring awareness to this developing issue,” Thanedar said. “America is a nation built on diversity of thoughts and culture, and we should never allow the proliferation of hate to damage the things that make this country great.”
Congressman Shri Thanedar initially introduced the resolution condemning Hinduphobia and anti-Hindu bigotry on April 10, 2024. The resolution garnered bipartisan support, with 23 cosponsors, including Representatives Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro Khanna , Ami Bera, and Pramila Jayapal.
The resolution received backing from various organizations, such as the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies.
