Anti-Israel demonstrators targeted Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar over the weekend, using car horns and loud protests to voice their discontent with his perceived silence on the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza and his position on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Thanedar, aged 68, has strongly expressed his support for Israel in the aftermath of the attack conducted by Hamas militants on October 7. On his website he has pledged to "defend Israel's right to exist and to thrive."

"This is my home at 3 AM," Thanedar stated, accompanied by a video depicting cars forming a line on the street outside his home, an individual waving a cloth-like material, and others using megaphones to scream. In the video, the protestors are being heard shouting, "You are complicit in the bombing of Gaza… Your silence is violence. Your silence is abhorrent, and we will not let you sleep!"

In another post, the congressman spoke about attacks during a scheduled event. “Last night, the peaceful Christmas party for Michigan’s 13th District at a private venue was disrupted by aggressive protestors. They created a situation of violence where innocent partygoers, including elderly people, were injured. Some seriously. I love and value the First Amendment, and encourage civil disagreement, but violence of any kind is unacceptable. And if these protestors think hurting senior citizens at a Christmas party is going to win people over to their side, they are very mistaken.”

Characterizing  Hamas as a barbaric terrorist organization, the michigan lawmaker has emphasized the necessity to eradicate the terror group. " I condemn these violent attacks against the Jewish people and the state of Israel. The calculated aggression targeting innocent civilians is heartbreaking and cannot be tolerated. America stands firmly with Israel," he wrote following the breakout of violence.

“In this time of great international uncertainty, it is now more important than ever before to reaffirm as a people, and as a nation, our unequivocal support for the state of Israel, the lone Democracy in the Middle East and one of our closest, and strongest, allies across the globe,” Thanedar had said as Hamas launched the attack on southern Israel on October 7.
