Richa Gupta was recently honored with the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award. Gupta, who is the co-founder and CEO of Labhya, was recognized at the 11th Annual Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, held on Nov.9, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Labhya is a nonprofit that integrates well-being programs into India's public education system. It works towards impacting the well-being and mental health of millions of vulnerable children.

Established in 2013, the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards (MAHA) celebrate Muhammad Ali’s legacy of humanitarianism and recognize emerging social changemakers.

Each year, the Ali Center honors prominent “seasoned humanitarians” as Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awardees. Additionally, six young leaders under 30 are celebrated for their advocacy, activism, and role-modeling efforts that drive community transformation and global impact. These young awardees are recognized for exemplifying Muhammad Ali’s Six Core Principles: Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect, and Spirituality.

The annual MAHA ceremony serves as the Ali Center’s key fundraiser, supporting mission-driven programs, community initiatives, partnerships, digital content, and museum exhibitions.

Richa Gupta, 28, earned the Core Principle Spirituality Award for her work creating programs that improve the quality and well-being for children. Her organization, Labhya Foundation, impacts 2.4 million vulnerable children enabling them to learn and become effective leaders.

“Today, together with our government partners, my non-profit impacts 2.4 million children, every single day,” Gupta said. “Our programs have transformed the lives of children by enabling better mental health, them gaining critical skills like grit, resilience, and by them learning better, all while joyfully and mindfully participating in a daily class and reflecting on their daily life.”
