Rohit Sharma fifth Indian to cross the milestone of 18k runs
The 36-year-old achieved this milestone during the ICC World Cup match against England

Rohit Sharma reached the milestone of 18000 international runs during Sunday's World Cup encounter against England in Lucknow.
The Indian skipper accomplished the feat in his 477th innings, making history as the fifth Indian player to surpass the threshold. The others before Rohit were Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Sachin Tendulkar.
In the twenty-first over, Rohit got to the mark with a slog sweep boundary off Adil Rashid. After India reached 40/3 after 12 overs, Rohit and KL Rahul were required to steady the innings.
Against Mark Wood, he hit a pull shot to register his 54th ODI half-century in 66 deliveries. However, Rashid had the last laugh as he had Rohit caught at deep mid-wicket after foxing him with a googly. Just 13 runs separated Rohit from a record sixth World Cup ton when he was dismissed at 87.
Of his 18000 runs, 3677 came from Test matches, 3853 from Twenty20 internationals, and 10470 from One-Day Internationals. Rohit has amassed 45 hundred and 98 fifties in his cricket career.
In 2023, Rohit also became the third hitter to reach 1000 runs in one-day international cricket (ODI) after Shubman Gill and Pathum Nissanka. Rohit exceeded the four-figure threshold for the sixth time in a calendar year.
