Rutgers University partners with Tamil Nadu Technology Hub

This partnership marks a significant step forward in U.S.-India collaboration, promoting innovation and creating new economic opportunities for both countries.

Rutgers University has announced a new collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub, marking a significant step in fostering innovation within the deep technology sector and US-India collaboration.

Facilitated by the New Jersey-India Commission and Choose New Jersey, the agreement aims to create opportunities for research, development, and entrepreneurship, focusing on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum computing, NJ Lieutenant Governor Tahesha announced. 

The partnership, led by the university’s international outreach division, Rutgers Global, will connect the university’s expertise with the iTNT Hub’s resources to drive technological breakthroughs and support the commercialization of research. The collaboration aims to provide academic and startup communities with new avenues for growth, with an emphasis on addressing global challenges through cutting-edge solutions.

Antonio M. Calcado, executive vice president and COO of Rutgers University, emphasized the importance of the partnership stating, “This partnership exemplifies Rutgers University’s commitment to global engagement and innovation. By joining forces with iTNT Hub, we are not only advancing research in the deep-tech sector but also creating new opportunities for our students and faculty to contribute to transformative solutions that address global challenges.”

Vanitha Venugopal, CEO of iTNT Hub, expressed pride in the collaboration, noting that it strengthens the ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. “This agreement underscores our commitment to building a robust ecosystem where research meets entrepreneurship to create impactful technologies for the future.”

Wesley Mathews, president of Choose New Jersey, highlighted the potential for this agreement to fuel workforce development and accelerate technological progress. “This partnership creates opportunities to develop our workforce of engineers and scientists while exploring new ways to continue supporting our growing community of start-ups that are so crucial to the economic success of both the States.” 

“I am excited to see New Jersey’s world-class academic institutions and business partner with Tamil Nadu and iTNT to foster innovation between U.S. and India,” said United States Consul General in Chennai Chris Hodges.
