Indian- American Dr. Sachin Jain, has been named to the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans board of directors.
“I am deeply honored to join the Board of Directors of the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans. As the son of immigrants and as a 2004 Fellow, I am excited to contribute my experience and passion to an organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators among immigrant communities,” Jain stated.
Merit-based financing is available for New Americans, immigrants, and the children of immigrants through the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans. These individuals are expected to make noteworthy contributions to US education, culture, and society.
In honor of the contributions of immigrants, the foundation grants 30 Fellows up to $90,000 annually to pursue their professional ambitions in a variety of fields at graduate schools of their choosing.
“With a background in medicine and healthcare management, the addition of Sachin promises to enhance the Fellowship’s mission to support outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants as they pursue higher education in the United States,” the organization said in a official statement announcing his appointment.
“Sachin Jain’s commitment to healthcare and his dedication to supporting immigrants align perfectly with our mission at the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships. His lived experience as a Fellow and his expertise will be invaluable as we continue to identify and empower the next generation of exceptional New American leaders,” Daisy Soros, the president of the Fellowship, stated.
The CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan, Jain is a doctor with training from Harvard and a well-known thought leader in the healthcare sector. SCAN serves more than 300,000 members and generates over $4.8 billion in income annually.
After joining SCAN in 2020, Jain has extended its operations into Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and New Mexico in addition to launching a number of new products, such as SCAN Affirm (HMO), the first LGBTQ+ health plan product, and SCAN Inspired (HMO), the first health plan created especially for women.
