Sahana Athreya honored at Women Transforming Business Awards

Indian American data scientist Sahana Athreya was recently honored at the 4th annual Women Transforming Business Awards in Cleveland, Ohio, on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024.

She was recognized in the Emerging Leader category, alongside Alicia Motomura, VP of Operations at MiddleGround Capital, and Kelsey Joson, founder of InControl. 

The awards were announced by CBIZ Inc., a national provider of financial, insurance, and advisory services. “The Women Transforming Business Awards recognize current and future leaders in multiple industries who are making a difference and impact in their organizations and communities,” said Jerry Grisko, president and CEO of CBIZ. 

“Each honoree shows the spirit of innovation, resilience and compassion, inspiring others to strive for excellence and drive positive and transformational change,” Grisko added. 

Who is Sahana Athreya?

Athreya works at Millennium, a New York-based global investment management firm, with offices in Bengaluru and Dubai. She is a data scientist and quantitative researcher in investment research and has been with the company since 2017. 

In her career that spans 14 years, Athreya has worked as a graduate teaching associate at NYU Stern School of Business and as an adjunct professor at NYU’s Center for Data Science. 

Aside from the recent awards, Athreya was featured on the 10 Best AI Minds on Wall Street list drawn in 2023 by Rebellion Research. A year prior, Forbes featured her on the 30 Under 30 – Finance list.

“As a data scientist, Sahana Athreya researches alternative datasets to provide investment insights. Her statistical and machine learning models have been crucial to a broad set of investment teams. When joining Millennium as an analyst, Sahana was instrumental in designing and implementing a platform that centralized trading data,” Forbes said.
