Sanders endorses Jayapal in Oregon's Primary

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has endorsed Susheela Jayapal in the primary race for Oregon's 3rd Congressional District on Mar. 12. Sanders highlighted Jayapal's long-standing commitment to progressive causes, citing her advocacy for workers' rights, support for immigrant and refugee communities, and her stance against environmental degradation. "For many years, Susheela Jayapal has been an outstanding progressive leader in Oregon," Sanders stated. "I look forward to serving with her in Congress."



In response to Sanders' endorsement, Jayapal expressed gratitude and enthusiasm, emphasizing Sanders' track record as a champion for affordable healthcare and climate action. "I'm honored and thrilled that Sen. Bernie Sanders, a champion for affordable health care and climate action, has chosen to endorse my campaign," Jayapal remarked. "Sen. Sanders joins dozens of leaders and organizations who know I'm the progressive champion Oregonians need fighting for our families and communities in Congress."

Jayapal's campaign has garnered support from various quarters, including her sister, Congressional Progressive Caucus chair Pramila Jayapal, as well as U.S. Representatives Ro Khanna of California, Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, and David Scott of Georgia. Additionally, over 100 local leaders and organizations have rallied behind her candidacy.



The endorsement from Sanders, known for his grassroots appeal and progressive agenda, adds considerable momentum to Jayapal's bid for the congressional seat.
