In an exclusive interview with New India Abroad, director of the National Science Foundation, Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan describes how the Government of India is working with the NSF to accelerate and catalyze joint research and collaboration across various fields for the global good. Excerpts:

The Prime Minister’s historic visit in June last year started in this (NSF) building. His first official engagement was here where he interacted with the young minds, along with the First Lady. Eight months down the line, can you tell us where the India-US relationship, stands in the field of science and technology?

It was truly an exciting moment. I often speak of it as a landmark moment where we had an international leader of such stature, Prime Minister Modi, coming to NSF along with our First Lady, Dr. Biden and have that wonderful conversation about the workforce for the future, for the industries of the future, and how do we energize them, empower them, and make it much more democratized across both our nations. It was a great conversation.
