Scotland recorded a stunning 10-wicket win over the hosts USA in the opening game of the ICC ODI tri-series at Grand Prairie. The third team in the tri-series is Nepal that just finished a 3-0 win over the USA in the T20I series.

Batting first, the US batters started on a disastrous note as half the team was gone with 21 runs on the board.  Shadley van Schalkwyk played the saviour  for the US innings. His two late partnerships, first with Harmeet Singh (22 from 27 balls with three fours) for 37 runs for the seventh wicket  and then with Nosthush Kenjige  (21 from 49 balls) for 71 runs for the ninth wicket, helped the home team reach the triple mark.

The Scottish bowlers—Bradley Currie (4 for 32), Brandon McCullen (three for 20) and Brad Wheal (2 for 15)—were virtually unplayable. They dismissed the home team for 144 in 38.4 overs on a wicket that was otherwise full of rains.

Chasing a target of 145 in 50 overs, Scottish batsmen made merry with the US bowlers as they raced to the winning score in 24.5 overs with Andrew Umeed just missing a ton. He remained unbeaten on 98 with the help of 13 boundaries and two hits to the maximum. Charlie Tear (43) gave him company at the other end as the two openers figured in an unbeaten opening wicket partnership of 145.
