A second American hostage taken by Hamas during its October 7 invasion of Israel has reportedly died. Judi Weinstein-Haggai and her husband Gad Haggai, both US-Canadian-Israeli triple nationals, were kidnapped from their Kibbutz Nir community in southern Israel.

Weinstein recently died in Hamas’ custody. Her death follows that of Gad, the first American hostage to die while Israel and Hamas were at war. According to Fox News, the six other Americans held by Hamas are Omer Neutra, Itay Chen, Sagui Dekel-Chen, Edan Alexander, Hersh Goldberg Polin, and Keith Samuel Siegel, with the youngest hostage being 19 and the oldest being 35.

The couple is survived by their four children, who live in the United States, Singapore, and Israel. On December 28, Biden released a statement about Judi’s passing. “This tragic development cuts deep, coming on the heels of last week’s news that Judy’s beloved husband, Gad Haggai, is believed to have been killed by Hamas,” the statement read.

Following the news of Gad's death, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden issued a statement. “Jill and I are heartbroken by the news that American Gad Haggai is now believed to have been killed by Hamas on October 7. We continue to pray for the well-being and safe return of his wife, Judy,” the statement read.

Biden's statement also included prayers for the couple's children, seven grandchildren, and loved ones, as well as a reaffirmed pledge to return all those captured to their families. “I will never forget what their daughter, and the family members of other Americans held hostage in Gaza, have shared with me. They have been living through hell for weeks. No family should have to endure such an ordeal,” Biden said.

Indian American Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley doubled down on the “finish them” stance after news of Judi’s death made the news. “Another American is confirmed murdered by Hamas. Finish them,” she posted on X.
