Sense of ethnic identity and cultural heritage in Indians may diminish over time: Suresh Shenoy
Challenges for an ethnic minority begin after the third generation, the Indian-American engineer said.

Indian-American engineer, senior business executive and philanthropist, Suresh V Shenoy, feels that while first and second-generation immigrants maintain strong ties to their cultural heritage, the subsequent generations may experience a diminishing sense of this identity. Shenoy made the remarks during an interaction with New India Abroad on the sidelines of the Desis Decide summit.
“The challenges for an ethnic minority begin after the third generation, “Shenoy said. “It is important that we have this kind of a dialogue going because that affiliation with your ethnicity and your background is what gives you self-confidence and is what gives you the power of knowing that you come from a very rich cultural heritage.”
