Indian designer duo Shantnu Mehra and Nikhil Mehra recently showcased their latest collection Indra, under the brand Shantanu & Nikhil, at the United Nations COP28 Sustainable Fashion Summit 2023 in Dubai.
The fashion event featured designer labels from all over the world, including Stella McCartney, LVMH, Rami Kadi, & Gelareh Designs, while Shantnu and Nikhil, were the only designers from India.
Their collection named after lord of rains and storms, carried features such as Lord Indra's essence, his celestial chariot, Airavata, and the mighty forces he commands. Reflecting on the showcase, Shantnu and Nikhil expressed stating, “We were ecstatic to showcase our collection, Indra, on this prestigious global platform of the Sustainable Fashion Summit.”
“In a time where climate change was a pressing area of concern, we were glad to contribute to the cause through our creative endeavours in showcasing Indra. The silhouettes were reminiscent of the element of serene water, symbolic of the God of Rain, Lord Indra, and the splendid royalty that he represents,” they added.
The brand’s product lines cover areas of apparel fashion, including menswear, womenswear, accessories. The brothers who founded the label in 2000 were also keynote speakers at the India Global Forum Middle East and Africa, addressing the theme "unleashing ambitions," an event held in the UAE between November 26-29.
