Houston Woman Magazine has recognized Indian American nonprofit leader, Sheroo Mukhtiar, as one of Houston's 50 Most Influential Women of 2024.
The annual list recognizes women who have made a significant impact in their respective fields and the broader Houston community.
Mukhtiar, president and CEO of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, with over 30 years of experience, has been instrumental in transforming organizations to better serve underserved populations.

Before leading Interfaith Ministries, Mukhtiar served as the CEO of SERJobs, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the organization's reach and services in the Greater Houston area. Her efforts included overseeing the transition to the Workforce Opportunity Center in 2018 and launching a state-of-the-art Workforce Resource and Training Center in 2023.
In addition to this accolade, Mukhtiar was named one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston in 2024 and received the Women Who Mean Business award from the Houston Business Journal. She was also recognized as a Woman on the Move by Texas Executive Women.
Sheroo has actively engaged with various boards and community initiatives, such as Impact100 Houston, the Indian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC), Leadership Houston, Texas Executive Women, and the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, demonstrating her commitment to social impact and community development.
Mukhtiar holds a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Social Work from Nirmala Niketan in Mumbai, India. She has also completed leadership programs such as Leadership Houston and the American Leadership Forum.
