India's men's doubles duo, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, climbed to the No. 1 spot in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings. This is their second time at the No. 1 position, having briefly held the top spot after the 2023 Asian Games.

The duo have clinched three BWF World Tour titles, including the Indonesia Open (Super 1000), Korea Open (Super 500), and the Swiss Open (Super 300), in addition to the Asian Games gold medal.

In 2024, they reached the finals of Malaysia and India Opens. They surpassed China's Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, who defeated them in the Malaysia Open final.

The duo have been securing accolades for India over the past five years. In 2018, they won India's historic gold medal in the Mixed Team event at the Commonwealth Games. The following year, they became the first Indian doubles pair to clinch a BWF Superseries or BWF World Tour (Super 500+) title by winning the Thailand Open.

In 2021, the duo faced setbacks at the Yonex Thailand Open and the Summer Olympics but later defeated the gold medalists.

In 2022, they won the India Open title, the Thomas Cup, and the men's doubles gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. They secured a bronze medal at the BWF World Championships, marking India's first-ever men's doubles medal at the tournament. They also won at the BWF World Super 750, their first-ever title in the French Open.

In 2023, the duo won the title at the Swiss Open and Badminton Asia Championships in Dubai, Indonesia Open, and Korea Open, to become the first Indian men's doubles pair to win a BWF World Super 1000 title.
