Sini Shetty, who is representing India at the 71st Miss World pageant being conducted in India, presented a tribute to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the talent showcase segment.
Aishwarya won Miss World for India in 1994 in Sun City, South Africa.
For the performance, Shetty, a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, presented a medley of Indian classical and Bollywood dance styles. She chose some of the actress’ biggest dance songs for the performance, including ‘Nimbooda,’ ‘Taal Se Taal Mila,’ ‘Kajra Re,’ and ‘Barso Re.’
“For my talent showcase at the 71st Miss World, I am thrilled to present a tribute to the unparalleled and stunning Miss World 1994, @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb. Since her crowning moment, Aishwarya has set the Bollywood stage on fire, becoming a beacon of grace and talent,” Shetty wrote on Instagram.
“Growing up, I was mesmerized by her performances, often finding myself mimicking her dance moves. Today, as I stand here representing India, it feels incredibly fitting to honour this legend. She has been a source of inspiration to countless individuals through her journey,” she added.
Shetty has secured her place in the Top 20 in the competition. She shared a couple of photos from the Top Model Competition held on March 2.
In one of the pictures, she was seen wearing a black gown with a peplum-styled top and a plunging neckline, styled with a belt and a silver buckle. The floor-length bodycon dress was designed by celebrated Indian designer Rocky Star.
“Massive thanks to @rockystarofficial @rockystar100 for this breathtaking outfit for last night’s Top Model competition. Walking the ramp in your design was an unforgettable experience,” she shared in another post.
The Miss World 2024 competition kicked off on February 18 in India’s capital New Delhi, and unlike the previous editions, the 71st edition has been planned as a festival that will conclude on March 9 at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai. The purpose is to “bring the world to India and bringing India to the world,” as said by a broadcast partner at a press conference in February.
