Arvin Shah, chairman and founder of Sky Bird Group, the largest travel wholesaler in the United States issuing more than US$700 million in airline tickets from over 90 airline partners, was recently honored with the Lifetime Business Achievement Award by the North American Indian Chamber of Commerce.

The award recognises Shah's dedication to the travel industry over four decades and his leadership in building one of the nation's leading airline consolidators for travel agents. Reflecting on his career, Shah expressed deep gratitude for the award: "I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to help so many in the travel industry, and I look forward to continuing to contribute in new ways."

Under Shah's leadership, the Detroit-based company, started in 1976, has grown to include offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, with international offices in Toronto and Mumbai. The company has also been the recipient of top sales awards from all the major airlines including American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Lufthansa German Airlines, United Airlines, and more.

Apart from his professional career, Shah is also committed to giving back to the community through philanthropic work. In addition to various charitable donations, his family established the Jaya Rehabilitation Institute in 2004 to provide prosthetic treatment to victims of the 2001 Kutch Earthquake in India. They also founded the Jaya Charitable Foundation—a nonprofit organization in Detroit whose mission is to improve the human condition through outreach initiatives that promote empowerment and opportunity.

Additionally, Shah is an active member of the Jain Society of Greater Detroit, Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA), and the Kachchhi Oswal Jain Association of North America (KOJAIN). He was the 2019 recipient of the Jain Society lifetime achievement award.
