Soma Venkat receives Michigan ORBIE award

Soma Venkat, CIO of Cooper Standard, has been conferred with the Michigan ORBIE award recognising his leadership.

Soma Venkat, senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of Cooper Standard has received a 2023 Michigan ORBIE Award. The honors were presented at The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan during the Michigan ORBIE honors.

Venkat was recognised for his work at Cooper Standard in the Global ORBIE Award category for enterprises,with yearly revenue above $2 billion and multinational operations.

In his capacity as CIO, Venkat is in charge of developing and carrying out the company's worldwide IT strategy. He supervises and leads all facets of the company's IT initiatives, making sure they are in line with business goals, fostering digital transformation, and guaranteeing that IT supports the company's strategic goals for innovation and operational excellence.

Venkat holds a Master of Applied Science degree in applied mathematics from The College of Engineering in Guindy, India, and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Madras, India. He graduated from the University of Windsor in Canada with a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in computational mathematics.

In addition to becoming a Six Sigma Black Belt, Venkat has completed multiple executive education programs and obtained credentials from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in management, program/strategic marketing, and program/finance.

The ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executives recognition program in the United States. It has been presented to more than 700 technological professionals since its founding in 1998.
