Somnath Lahiri named Interim Chair of COB’s Department of management

Illinois State University's (ISU) College of Business (COB) has appointed Somnath Lahiri as the interim chairman for its department of management. 

With a background in both academics and management, Lahiri brings a wealth of experience to this leadership position, a statement from the university said.

As interim chairperson, Lahiri will lead one of ISU’s largest departments. His responsibilities include representing the department in university-level meetings, revising curricula, and supporting both faculty and students. In this role, Lahiri is committed to building upon the department's strengths, aiming to foster an environment of collaboration and growth.

Throughout his academic career, Lahiri has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including organizational strategy, international business, and the MBA capstone class. His teaching has also extended internationally, with courses offered in Panama. 

An accomplished scholar, Lahiri’s research has been featured in numerous journals, and he serves on several editorial boards. Additionally, he has contributed significantly to the college’s research efforts in his role as research director of the COB.

Lahiri holds a PhD with a major in Strategy from The University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA, a Human Resource Management course at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi, India, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Civil Engineering from The University of Calcutta, India.
