The pre-sale bookings for Jawan, the second film starring global superstar Shah Rukh Khan this year, opened recently and have already raked in massive profits. The movie is set to release in theaters on September 7 and has collected approximately US $1,45,263 in advance booking in the U.S. alone, per an ETimes article.
SRK’s Jawan has reportedly sold over 9700 tickets for Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil shows combined, across 367 locations in the U.S. for the opening day. “#Jawan advance bookings are terrific in USA CROSSES $150K mark. Advance sales - $151,187 Locations - 367 Shows - 1607 Tickets – 9691,” trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Single screen exhibitor Vishek Chauhan from Bihar, India, said SRK’s next release crossed US $75K in advance bookings 21 days before its release, and that the movie could collect as much as $300K ten days before its release i.e. by August 26. He also claimed to have received requests to play 6 a.m. shows of the movie, just like they did for Pathaan.
Atlee Kumar, a veteran of the Tamil film industry, makes his Hindi directorial debut with Jawan. In addition to the director, the film features award-winning actors like Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi from the Tamil film industry. Nayanthara will make her Bollywood debut with Jawan.
In other firsts, Anirudh Ravichander, the film's music director, is making his Bollywood debut with Jawan and has received widespread critical acclaim in advance of the film's release.
