Dr. Inderpal Singh, assistant divisional director for Medicine at UK’s Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, has been named as a finalist for the prestigious St David Awards in the Innovation, Science, and Technology category.
The St David Awards are the national awards of Wales, recognizing outstanding achievements and contributions across various fields, including innovation, science, technology, public service, and community work. Established by the Welsh Government, the awards celebrate individuals and groups who have made a significant impact in Wales and beyond. Winners are selected from a shortlist of finalists, with an annual ceremony honoring their achievements.

All winners will receive a St David Awards trophy, crafted by a renowned Welsh artist. The awards ceremony will be held on Mar. 27, at the Senedd.
Dr. Singh is a consultant geriatrician at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in Wales and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University. He also serves as the Lead Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine Training, working with HEIW to improve the educational experience for trainee doctors.
In 2020, Dr. Singh was appointed as the National Clinical Lead by the Welsh Government, where he created the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Development and Quality Assurance Board to enhance osteoporosis care and reduce the risk of fractures across Wales.
A recipient of the 2017 NHS Wales Award for his work in fall and osteoporosis care, Dr. Singh has developed a digital system to improve early fracture management and enhance osteoporosis diagnosis. His leadership has also helped make Wales the first nation to mandate a universal Fracture Liaison Service.
Dr. Singh has authored over 25 research papers and has received several awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award from Cardiff University in 2019 and a Clinical Excellence Award in 2021. His current Bevan Fellowship focuses on evaluating the Fracture Liaison Service and measuring patient-related outcomes.
