The Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugarland, Texas is gearing up to inaugurate the ‘Statue of Union’ — a 90 feet idol of Lord Hanuman, which will be the largest statue in Texas and the third largest statue in the United States.
The statue was envisioned as a beacon of unity and strength by Indian spiritual leader Chinna Jeeyaar Swami, who also inspired the Statue of Equality in Hyderabad, India. He will inaugurate the statue in the presence of community leaders during a ceremony from Aug.15-18 at the temple.
“The Statue of Union will be North America’s tallest statue of Lord Hanuman, an embodiment of strength, devotion, and selfless service. Hanuman united Sri Rama with Sita and hence the name, Statue of Union,” the official announcement reads. “The Statue of Union is about creating a spiritual epicenter where hearts find solace, minds find peace, and souls find a path to transcendence.”
Well wishers from India and around the globe have been pouring in support for the statue, including Bollywood music director Dilip Sen, who is the composer of “Hanuman Tandav” along with Anup Jalota. Sen also sent Bhajans (devotional songs) sung by Anuradha Poudwal for Ram Sita Milan, and on Ram with Udit Narayan.
The inauguration is being organized by a team put together by prominent community leader, Arun Mundra, Mein BHARAT Hoon international coordinator and NRI Global coordinator along with Heemanshu Maheshwari.
