Suhas Subramanyam, the newly elected Indian American Congressman from Virginia, has announced his membership in the New Democrat Coalition (NDC), a group of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives focused on pragmatic, solutions-driven policies.

In a statement on social media, Subramanyam highlighted the coalition's mission to "deliver real results for Americans" through bipartisan approaches. Speaking at a new member orientation organized by the NDC, Subramanyam underscored his commitment to bridging divides and advancing policies on climate change, healthcare, and economic growth.

The New Democrat Coalition, currently one of the largest Democratic factions in the House, advocates for policies that include transitioning to clean energy, expanding healthcare access, and bolstering national security. Its membership now exceeds 100 representatives, constituting more than half of the House Democratic Caucus.

Subramanyam's historic victory in Virginia's 10th Congressional District makes him the first Indian American elected from Virginia and the broader East Coast. As a former Virginia State Senator, his priorities have included advancing technology-driven solutions and fostering economic innovation—ideals that resonate with the NDC’s pro-business stance.

Chair-elect Brad Schneider described the Coalition’s mission as one to "champion policies that grow the economy and build the middle class," an agenda Subramanyam is poised to support. With Congress reconvening soon, the NDC aims to work across party lines to address critical challenges.
