Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has praised the sport’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, calling it a “wonderful development” and saying it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for cricketers to live and compete in the Olympic Village.
Reflecting on his son’s stint with the Indian cricket team during the Commonwealth Games, Gavaskar shared how the Games Village left an indelible mark on athletes, acting as a rare chance to rub shoulders with champions across disciplines. “They kept raving about the fact that at the Commonwealth Games village, they met up with champions from other sports, sometimes had breakfast, lunch or dinner together. There was so much to learn from each other,” he recalled.
