Indian American entrepreneur Sunju Patel has been named one of Charleston’s 50 Most Influential People for 2024 by Charleston Business Magazine.
Co-founder and managing partner of TMGOC Ventures’, a real estate private equity firm, Patel has played a pivotal role in shaping Charleston’s commercial landscape.

Patel co-founded The Montford Group in 2017, where he spearheaded strategic investment opportunities and forged partnerships with top hospitality brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt. His leadership helped expand the firm’s real estate portfolio across the Southeast, encompassing hotels, office spaces, and retail properties.
He later co-founded TMGOC Ventures, aiming to enhance investment opportunities for capital markets, debt partners, and investors. Known for his creative approach and strategic deal-making, Patel has made a lasting impact on Charleston’s hospitality sector.
Beyond his business ventures, Patel actively contributes to the College of Charleston School of Business as a Board of Governors member and serves on the Accommodation Tax Committee for the City of Charleston, advocating for policies that support sustainable tourism and economic growth.
