"Support has increased for Trump in our community," says Sikhs of America head Jasdip Singh
Singh highlighted concerns over America's diminished global influence under current foreign policies as contributing factors to increased support for President Trump among Sikhs.

Jasdip Singh, head of Sikhs of America, noted a significant shift in Sikh community support towards Donald Trump, which he says has quadrupled since 2020.
“Sikh community support for Trump has gotten four times than what it was in 2020. Now, people come up to me and say, we want to be in your support. Whereas in 2016 and 2020, I used to be criticized for my support or I had all the negativities coming towards me,” Singh who serves on the finance committee of Sikh Americans for Trump told New India Abroad in an interview.
“This time, people from the community are walking up to me and asking me, hey, we want to support President Trump. How can we support you? How can we support him?” Singh said.
This change, he explained, stems from the community's perception of America's decline during Biden's presidency, citing issues such as deteriorating infrastructure, crime affecting small businesses, inflation, and immigration challenges like lengthy waits for H-1B visa holders to become U.S. citizens.
“On one hand, we have borders that are open. On the other hand, if you are on an H-1B, it'll take you like 40 years to become a U.S. citizen. So the country’s upside down,” Singh said.
Singh also cited concerns over America's diminished global influence under current foreign policies as contributing factors to increased support for former President Trump among Sikhs.
“Even in foreign policy, America's clout, America's supremacy has taken a big hit. And because of that, I think our community is very much in support (of Trump). I've seen a big support in favor of President Trump,” Singh said.
Shaky debate performance
According to Singh, while concerns about President Biden's issues over the past four years were widely known, the recent debate brought renewed attention to his declining mental capacity and thought processes.
“The American public and media saw how much President Biden has declined his mental capacity and his thought processes, which was very evident throughout the debate,” he said.
Trump’s election chances
Singh expressed optimism about Trump's prospects in the upcoming election, noting that recent developments, including a favorable Supreme Court ruling granting partial immunity in certain cases and the dismissal of charges related to the January 6 events, have bolstered Trump's standing.
“Trump had a good couple of weeks including the debate and his chances are very high in the recent polls the independent polls it's showing that he's taking the lead in some in almost all of the swing states and I think if the elections are fair honest and legal then I think Trump is a winner,” Singh said.
He also announced plans to raise funds for President Trump through Sikh Americans for Trump and participate in the upcoming Republican convention. Additionally, he outlined intentions to mobilize teams across the nation, including the West Coast, New York, and Texas, to support Trump's candidacy.
