TCS to support UK-based Asda’s digital transformation journey

Through the strategic association, TCS will leverage its cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and security solutions enabling ASDA to deliver the divestiture smoothly.

Indian multinational information technology company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a multi-year partnership with UK-based Asda Stores Limited to support its digital transformation and to implement a new organisation-wide information technology (IT) operating model following its divestiture from Walmart.

As part of the strategic association, TCS will leverage its cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and security solutions enabling ASDA to deliver the divestiture smoothly, on time and securely. It will further enhance Asda’s customer experience and innovation capabilities to help increase its market share and retain price leadership.

The company will build a new digital core by implementing multiple cloud-based ERP platforms to streamline Asda’s supply chain forecasting, buying and merchandising, human resource (HR), warehouse management, and e-commerce processes.

In addition, TCS will use its ‘machine first delivery model’ to automate the retailer’s information technology (IT) operations, providing a seamless experience for employees and customers, and improving operational resilience.

TCS' retail business head of UK and Europe, Abhijit Niyogi expressed delight about the partnership with Asda and, said, “We will leverage the power of data and AI, and deliver innovative, industry-leading retail technology solutions to transform their core retail operations, employee experience, supply chain and create opportunities for new business models. Asda's chief executive officer Mohsin Issa emphasised that they have partnered with TCS as they bring experience in retail technology transformation and innovation. Meanwhile, expressing confidence in the partnership, Asda's chief digital and technology officer, Carl Dawson, said, "TCS is going to bring together the cutting-edge technologies and help Asda employees and customers have a seamless experience.”

Most recently, the Georgia Department of Labor has also partnered with TCS to replace the state’s outdated unemployment system.
